- Awarded in the Community Shared Growth category
- Recognized for efforts in supporting small businesses’ digital transformation through “Dangol Market”
- Plans to strengthen Dangol Market and expand support for small businesses
(December 11, 2024) Kakao (CEO Shina Chung) announced that it has received the “Shared Growth Grand Prize” in the Community Shared Growth category at the 2024 Korea Shared Growth Award Ceremony organized by the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership (KCCP). Kakao was recognized for its contributions to the digital transformation of small businesses and revitalization of the local economy.
The awards ceremony, held at the FKI Tower Conference Center in Yeouido on December 10, was attended by about 150 key figures, including the chairperson and members of the Shared Growth Committee, corporate awardees, and officials.
Since 2022, Kakao has been running Dangol Market, a program aimed at helping small businesses digitally transform and connect with customers online. In 2024, Kakao also participated in the digital transformation of local commercial districts through the Dangol Street Project, supporting areas like Chilseong-ro Shopping Street in Jeju and Gongneung Forest Shopping Street in Nowon-gu, Seoul.
Dangol Market is a win-win program that visits traditional markets and local shopping districts across the nation, providing one-on-one tailored digital training to help merchants increase online engagement with customers and foster active communication. The program also offers subsidies for talk channel message delivery, promotional kits for stores, and offline promotional events. As of the current date, Kakao has provided digital training to more than 2,800 merchants nationwide, resulting in over 2,800 new talk channels and the addition of 730,000 customers as friends.
Kakao plans to further strengthen Dangol Market and expand its support for small businesses. This effort includes expanding the number of business regions, offering industry-specific training, fostering loyalty mentors to support merchants continuously, and developing the Star Dangol Stores program to identify outstanding businesses.
Park Yun-seok, the Shared Growth Performance Leader at Kakao, stated, “We hope Kakao’s Shared Growth Committee contributed at least a bit to the local community’s merchants through Project Dangol. We will continue to explore ways to provide practical benefits to small businesses and expand our support.” [End]
