[March 5, 2025] Kakao Corporation announced the publication of the “Kakao Compliance and Trust Committee Annual Report 2024,” highlighting its first year of activities and outlining its goals for 2025.

The report comprises an introduction to the committee, its activities in 2024, its recommendations and implementations, and its promises for 2025. Notably, the report details the background and deliberation process behind the committee’s three key agenda recommendations, along with Kakao’s implementations of these recommendations. In February last year, the committee recommended three core agendas: responsible management; ethical leadership; and restoration of public trust. Kakao completed implementation of improvement plans based on these recommendations in January this year.

The section covering its 2024 activities includes a record of the committee’s first year, covering its launch, meetings, employee engagement, workshops, and investigations. Since its inaugural meeting on December 18, 2023, the committee has held 22 meetings, reviewing 97 agenda items related to Kakao’s affiliated companies. It also engaged with company leadership, including Kakao Management Innovation Committee Chair Kim Beom-su, labor unions, and employees to gather feedback on reform efforts. Workshops were held in both the first and second half of the last year to review compliance system operations.

The section covering its recommendations and implementations focuses on the deliberation process and rationale behind the three agenda items. The report explains that responsible management serves as the starting point for establishing a compliance framework; ethical leadership acts as a guiding compass for Kakao employees; and restoration of public trust is tied to Kakao’s identity as a company that grows together with society. The report also includes Kakao’s implementation plans and current progress for each agenda item.

The section covering its 2025 promises, the committee outlines three primary goals for the year, including advancing the compliance system; strengthening public trust; and establishing a compliance management framework for the platform industry. Specifically, the committee plans to assess the compliance systems of affiliated companies based on evaluation indicators.

Committee Chair Kim So-young stated in the report’s foreword, “Kakao has demonstrated its strong will to formulate and carry out our recommendations, which is how we’ve come this far together. It may take a little more time for the seed to sprout, extend its branches, and grow into a big tree. But I have no doubt that if we don’t give up, we will surely reach our goals.”
