- ₩500 million from Kakao, ₩500 million from Kakao Bank, and ₩300 million from Kakao Pay; funds to be used for relief supplies for disaster victims and on-site recovery efforts

- Emergency fundraising underway since the 18th through Kakao Together Value, with Kakao donating ₩1,000 for each encouraging comment posted by users on the fundraising page

 

[July 23, 2025] Kakao Group announced on July 23 that it has decided to donate ₩1.5 billion to support recovery efforts and aid victims affected by heavy rainfall.

 

Five companies participated in this donation: Kakao Corporation (₩500 million), Kakao Bank (₩500 million), Kakao Pay (₩300 million), Kakao Games (₩100 million), and Kakao Entertainment (₩100 million). The amount donated by Kakao Group will be transferred to the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association and the Community Chest of Korea to be used for relief supplies for flood victims and support for on-site recovery efforts.

 

In addition, Kakao’s social contribution platform Kakao Together Value has been encouraging users to participate in donations by opening an emergency donation box for flood damage victims since July 18, making it easy for everyone to participate in donations. So far, more than 110,000 people have participated in the emergency donation campaign on Kakao Together Value, and the amount of donations raised has exceeded ₩330 million. Users who wish to participate in the fundraising can donate any amount they wish through the fundraising page or easily participate by writing a comment at the bottom of the page. When a comment is written on the emergency fundraising page, Kakao will donate ₩1,000 per comment.

 

Kakao is realizing the value of sharing through various humanitarian support and social responsibility efforts during disasters and crises in and out of Korea. In February 2023, Kakao raised approximately ₩4.8 billion for earthquake relief efforts in the Turkey–Syria region; in April of the same year, Kakao raised ₩2.2 billion for wildfire relief efforts in Korea’s Gangneung region. In March, ₩11.1 billion was raised for the recovery from the forest fire in the Gyeongsang region.

 

Kakao has been operating its social contribution platform Kakao Together Value since December 2007, where anyone can participate in fundraising and donations. To date, the cumulative donation amount has reached approximately ₩95.9 billion, with over 19,563 fundraising campaigns conducted. (E.O.D.)
