[January 16, 2026] Beom-soo Kim, Head of Kakao’s Future Initiative Center, made a surprise visit to a training session for the company’s newly hired crew members.

Kim visited the 2026 group entry-level recruitment training program underway at Kakao AI Campus in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do on January 15 without prior notice. He communicated openly with the new crew in a relaxed atmosphere, taking part in spontaneous Q&A and responding to photo requests one by one.

“We’re now at a point where anyone can turn what they imagine into reality. Any task that gets repeated more than twice should be automated with AI, and if you have an idea, try building it yourself at least once a week,” Kim said when asked about ways of working in the AI era. He emphasized the importance of action and experimentation.

Kim began the conversation by welcoming the new hires who joined Kakao after overcoming tremendous competition.  “Joining Kakao means you’ll be at the forefront of experiencing massive changes in the world, and gaining great colleagues to go through that journey with is also a major asset,” he said.

According to him, the AI era is both a crisis and an opportunity, and it is most important to identify accurately what will change and what will not.  He also predicted a fundamental shift in work styles. Ultimately, the key capability will be asking the right questions and properly defining problems,” he stressed.

He went from table to table where the new crew members were seated, continuing conversations instead of leaving immediately after the Q&A session. He also took selfies with everyone who asked, further fostering a warm, energetic atmosphere.

“His advice that anyone can now build tech services using AI, and that this should become routine, really lit a fire under me. I plan to keep challenging myself to develop the ability to define and solve problems properly,” said one crew member from the Service Business division participating in the training.

After completing their onboarding program, the new crew members are expected to be assigned to their respective teams as early as next month. (E.O.D.)
