Kakao Boosts Collaboration with Supreme Prosecutors’ Office to Combat Voice Phishing Scams

- Supporting operation of the “Supreme Prosecutors’ Office 찐센터 ” KakaoTalk Channel

- Set to collaborate on anti-fraud initiatives through Kakao Now, including guidance on using the 찐센터, sharing major fraud cases, and distributing holiday scam prevention messages

- Expanding partnerships with public institutions to foster a safer digital environment

[April 15, 2026] Kakao (CEO Shina Chung) is strengthening its collaboration with the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office to combat voice phishing crimes and create a safer service environment for users.

Kakao has been working closely with the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office to proactively prevent increasingly sophisticated voice phishing schemes and respond to incidents in real time. The company currently supports the “Supreme Prosecutors’ Office 찐센터” KakaoTalk Channel, which allows users to quickly verify the authenticity of prosecution-related documents and determine whether an individual is falsely impersonating a prosecutor or investigator. The channel is linked within Kakao Customer Service under the “Beware of Customer Service Impersonation” section, enabling users to promptly check suspicious cases and report them when necessary.

Kakao plans to further expand the scope of its cooperation with the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office. As part of these efforts, the company will introduce the 찐센터 channel through Kakao Now within KakaoTalk to raise awareness of voice phishing scams, while providing guidance on how to use the service and information on major fraud cases.

Kakao also plans to deliver messages for prevention during periods when voice phishing incidents tend to increase and identify key prohibited terms commonly exploited in scams for incorporation into its services, helping create a safer environment that users can trust.

Kakao will also continue to work closely with the National Police Agency’s Integrated Response Team for Telecommunications and Financial Fraud as part of broader efforts to prevent fraud and protect the public.

Kakao stated, “Kakao is committed to applying technology to help address social issues such as voice phishing and to creating a digital environment that citizens can use with confidence. Through continued collaboration with public institutions, we will fulfill our responsibility as a trusted platform and further strengthen user confidence in our services.” (E.O.D.)
