[May 18, 2026] Kakao (CEO Shina Chung) announced on May 18 that it held the Kakao Compliance Awards, a recognition program honoring teams and crew members (employees) who have contributed to promoting fair trade practices and fostering shared growth partnerships.
The awards were established to strengthen Kakao’s culture of voluntary compliance by providing incentives to employees who have contributed to expanding the company’s Compliance Program (CP), including promoting awareness of fair trade compliance and shared growth, reinforcing compliance systems, and advancing a culture of self-regulation throughout the organization.
This year’s awards primarily recognized the employees and teams that played a key role in Kakao receiving a Presidential Commendation at Fair Trade Day in April. Two employees who participated in the public-private consultative body on the mobile gift certificate market and helped develop practical shared-growth initiatives, including commission reductions and shortened settlement cycles, were selected as award recipients. Teams behind Kakao Class and Project Dangol, which support small business owners through IT education and digital marketing programs that contribute directly to revenue growth, were also recognized.
During the ceremony, CEO Shina Chung stated, “We will continue to identify examples of fair trade, compliance, and shared growth being put into practice across our business operations and expand those efforts throughout the organization so that a culture of voluntary compliance can take root naturally.”
Kakao continues to enhance its Compliance Program framework as part of its efforts to establish a fair and transparent business environment. Since formally introducing its Compliance Program in 2024, the company has built a company-wide compliance management framework through an official declaration by the CEO and the development of related policies, guidelines, and compliance manuals.
In particular, to make the program more approachable for employees, Kakao adopted the brand name “Let’s CP” through an internal naming contest. At the same time, the company has continued to strengthen its fair trade risk management framework while implementing a variety of training programs and awareness campaigns, further establishing compliance management as a core pillar of its corporate culture.
Young-shin Jang, Performance Leader for Compliance Operations and Kakao’s Compliance Officer, said, “We will continue to foster a healthy platform ecosystem by expanding our culture of voluntary compliance and further strengthening our compliance-driven management approach as part of our commitment to fulfilling our social responsibilities.” (E.O.D.)
