Kakao is preparing for a systematic group-wide transition ahead of its planned spin-off.

On the 28th, Kakao Group held a Group Council meeting and announced that, following a resolution by the CEOs of the group’s member companies, Doyoung Kim, CEO-designate of Kakao X, had been appointed co-chair of the CA Council. Kim will lead the CA Council alongside fellow co-chair Shina Chung.

The appointment aims to strengthen continuity in key decision-making and enhance organizational stability ahead of the spin-off. Until the spin-off is complete, the two co-chairs will jointly make key decisions, improving group-wide coordination and execution.

A Kakao representative stated, “This co-chair structure is intended to ensure continuity and systematic execution at the group level during this important period of transition ahead of the spin-off. Kakao will closely manage preparations through task forces dedicated to each area and do its utmost to ensure a stable transition.”

Kakao has established a task force (TF) involving key departments, including technology, finance, and HR, to prepare for the spin-off. The company is reviewing operational tasks and proceeding with preparations in stages to ensure a systematic transition. The company is also maintaining ongoing communication with employees through in-person information sessions and a dedicated channel where they can submit questions at any time, addressing their questions about the spin-off.
