Kakao Brain is focused on maximizing the efficiency of graphics processing unit (GPU) resource usage, while developing various features that makes cloud use more convenient for researchers and accelerates the pace of research.

 

Meta Learning

Meta learning is a machine learning theory where the machine learns about the learning process and how to acquire knowledge. Kakao Brain’s research is centered on AutoML that controls artificial intelligence learning with automated methods. Development of artificial intelligence in various domains that need meta learning is also under way.

 

Vision Kakao

Brain is researching technology that finds people or objects in an image or recognizes actions, in addition to algorithms that analyzes the meaning of multi-modal data. Results from these research are being used to develop products that resolve realistic problems.

 

Voice

Technology is being developed on voice recognition, which converts voice into text, speech synthesis, which accurately and naturally reads the provided text out loud, and voice conversion, which changes voices to different styles. Kakao Brain focuses on greatly reducing the amount of voice data needed for learning, while developing a high-quality, single model that can process, research and produce various voice style quickly.

 

Natural Language Processing (NLP)

Kakao Brain researches artificial intelligence technology that understands human language and speaks like a human being. Kakao Brain is looking into ways to apply the deep understanding of NLP theory and principles into related sectors. The end goal is to develop a language production model that is based on a model that understands natural language, as well as a conversational AI model.
