Daum appeals MS“s demand to stop sales of Windows XP

- Daum files a suit against MS for unfair trade acts and forced
transaction in relation to Windows XP sales
- Daum, submits notification to Fair Trade Commission and also
files suit

October 4, 2001 - Daum Communications(CEO Lee Jae-woong, www.daum.net) filed a suit with the Seoul Provincial Court today against MS Korea(CEO Koh Hyun-jin) for "stop sales of Windows XP".

Daum points out that MS Windows XP features MSN Messenger and other applications software and this act infiltrates the consumer“s rights to freely compare, select and purchase other products and also deprives other companies of fair quality and price competition.

On the other hand, Daum has filed MS“s unfair trade acts with the Fair trade Commission on September 5 while it announced on the 27th, a joint statement asking that unfair trade acts using the monopoly position in the market and bundling operating systems including Windows XP be stop with 17 other domestic IT companies such as Lycos Korea.
