Daum To Exchange Technologies And Services With Lycos (Electronic News)
Daum Communication, a leading portal service provider, plans to exchange its technologies and services with Lycos, its subsidiary in the United States.
"The company is seeking ways of providing its leading-edge community technologies and services to Lycos, while importing search technologies and services from the U.S. subsidiary," said a manager at Daum Communication on Thursday.
Under this strategy, Daum Communication intends to introduce its individualized community service like “Daum Planet“ in the United States next month, and roll out blog and customized really simple syndication (RSS) service via Lycos in the third quarter of this year. Then, in the fourth quarter, it will unveil a search service added with new features such as “Q&A“ and “Serky Jockey“, which earned popularity in the domestic market.
In return, Daum Communication is mulling over importing Lycos“ search engine “Hotbot“, “Sidesearch“, which boasts a record of download by more than 10 million users, “Tripod“ site, blog service “Angelfire“ and “QUOTE.com“, a financial service.
"Like Daum, Lycos needs to concentrate its resources on fostering “search“ and “community“ service as major services to expand traffic and revenue base," said Jeong Yong-tae, Vice CEO of Daum Communication.
