Kakao Holds 23rd Annual General Meeting of Shareholders

-Yeo Min-soo and Joh Su-yong are officially elected as co-CEOs of Kakao
-A total of six bills, including the approval of financial statements, appointment of directors and partial revision of the Articles of Incorporation, are passed as drafted
Kakao announced today it held the 23rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Shareholders in Space.1, Kakao's headquarters in Jeju.
CEO nominees Yeo Min-soo and Joh Su-yong were appointed as inside directors of Kakao during the AGM. They were officially elected as co-CEOs of Kakao in the subsequent board of directors' meeting.
In addition, an inside director Song Ji-ho, and outside directors Cho Min-sick, Choi Jae-hong, Yanli Piao and Cho Kyu-jin, whose term of office expires at the close of the AGM, were re-elected, while Rhee Kyoo-cheol, partner of Affinity Equity Partners, was appointed as an outside director of Kakao. Moreover, a total of six bills, including: approval of the financial statements; appointment of directors; and partial alteration of the Articles of Incorporation, were passed without amendments.
In his greetings, CEO Yeo Min-soo commented "I feel a heavy weight of responsibility for assuming this significant position in the midst of a paradigm shift in the IT industry. However, I will make devoted efforts to make sure that Kakao continues to evolve and stay ahead of the curve with the promise of a better tomorrow."
CEO Joh Su-yong added, "We will make concerted efforts with all Kakao members to explore effective ways to offer an even more convenient user experience to Kakao service users, while providing even larger benefits to our shareholders. At the same time, we will relentlessly put these ideas and insights into practice in our unique Kakao Way."
Following the appointment of co-CEOs, Kakao plans to unleash increased synergies between a broad array of services in its portfolio, sharpen its competitiveness as a mobile online platform with a focus on its mobile messaging app Kakao Talk, and step up its global expansion effort with the roll-out of novel services and contents.
