Making your wish come true! Kakao Harbang

 

Santa Claus only comes once a year, but Harbang is here all year round.

 

Submit various wishes that can bring about positive changes in Jeju's regional society, such as individual wishes that can make people’s dreams come true,

or wishes made by a group to fulfill the dreams of the community and beneficiaries.

Kakao is here to grant those wishes.

How Kakao Harbang wishes are selected Wishes sent to Kakao Harbang are reviewed with the Community Chest of Korea in Jeju and selected based on appropriateness, feasibility, effectiveness, timeliness and public interest.

 

1. Applicants

1) Individuals: Individuals or families who reside in Jeju Province and earns 80% or less of the median income.

2) Groups: Social welfare organizations or non-profit organizations that operate in Jeju Province.

 

2. What to include in the application

1) Individuals: Stories or ideas about a wish that will bring on positive change to the people of Jeju

2) Groups: Stories or ideas about programs that will bring on positive change to the community and beneficiaries

 

3. Support provided

1) Individuals: Goods, within a range of 2 million KRW

2) Groups: Program operational costs (Cash or goods within 20 million KRW)

 

4. Schedule

1) Application: Submit any time. Two months’ worth of applications will be reviewed for applications submitted by the end of every odd-numbered month.

2) Review and aid provided: Every two months (Applications are reviewed and aids provided every even-numbered months)

 

5. Kakao Harbang selection criteria

1) Appropriateness - Individuals or groups that meet the application criteria - Groups that are able to run the project, are credible and transparent - Individuals or groups that meet conditions to receive aid from the Community Chest of Korea in Jeju.

2) Feasibility - Wishes (for individuals) and projects (for groups) that are feasible - Projects with a detailed execution plan

3) Effectiveness - Stories that can lead to positive change if aid is provided - Projects that can produce outcomes through continued management and aid

4) Timeliness - Stories (individuals) and programs (groups) in applications that were submitted at the appropriate time

5) Public interest (only for group applicants) - Projects people in the society can relate to - Projects that benefit a large number of people - Projects that are extremely original, creative and have great social value

 

6. Wishes/projects that cannot be submitted

1) Includes requests that cannot be met - The proposal includes requests for organization’s basic operational costs (incl. labor costs or rent that is unrelated to the program) - The projects can be used to build the organization’s assets (Purchase real-estate, cars etc…) - The proposal includes requests for goods/materials that have low relevance with project execution - The project is a proper purpose business of a government subsidized organization - The total of the outside instructors and material costs exceed 70% of the entire business expense

2) Wishes/projects that have been submitted in the past - The same wish/project has already been used to get aid from a different organization - The same wish/project has already received aid from Kakao Harbang (3 year restriction for individuals, one year restriction for groups)

3) Other reasons - Proposals did not use the provided form (Email, use of the organization’s own etc...) - Application was not sent to the designated official email account (kakaoharbang@daum.net) - The applicant cannot be reached at the contact information provided by the applicant after three attempts - The necessary documents were not submitted, making it difficult to assess the objectivity of the proposal
