Jeju Startup Acceleration – Discover, Foster and Invest
From 2015 to 2020, a total of 9,677 people participated in the Jeju Center for Creative Economy & Innovation’s startup training program, and over 150 startup companies attracted 69.1 billion KRW in investments.

In 2016, Kakao created the Jeju Creative Economy Innovation Fund that was worth 2 billion KRW. From the fund, Kakao invested 1 billion KRW into Monolith Inc., which created the non-motorized racing park in the Aewol region of Jeju. An additional 40 billion KRW was secured for investment, greatly increasing the value of the company.
In 2017, the Jeju Center for Creative Economy & Innovation started to invest in startups by providing seed money with contributions given by Jeju Province. Over the past three years, the center invested 750 million KRW to a total of 17 companies (30 million to 70 million KRW per company), and attracted an additional 4.4 billion KRW in investments.
Starting in 2021, Kakao, the Jeju Province Development Corporation and KAFLIX is working on creating a 3 billion KRW private investment fund with funds donated to the center and through Jeju investors, continuing the efforts to boost investment into Jeju’s startup companies.
