‘Jumpin’ Apeach’:First Kakao Game Created by Indonesian Developer

 

·  Marking the first collaboration between a local Indonesian game studio with Kakao, a global messenger platform

[Jakarta, Indonesia – May 22, 2014] Today, Kakao, in partnership with Indonesia’s leading mobile game studio TouchTen, launches “Jumpin’ Apeach,” the first Kakao game created by Indonesian developers, and at the same time the first Kakao game ever to feature Kakao Friends characters. To add to the significance, this also marks the first collaboration between a local game studio from Indonesia with a global messenger platform like Kakao.

“Jumpin’ Apeach,” available on Android, tells the story of a Kakao Friends character, Apeach, who must save the other Kakao Friends that are trapped by Bora the Wolf, and consists of 90 levels which are divided into three worlds. The game is available for free, but to unlock level 31-90, players can log in with their Kakao account or buy paid items otherwise. To add the fun, players can substitute Apeach with the five remaining Kakao Friends characters, Neo, Frodo, Jay G, Muzi or Tube, and get TouchTen points which can be redeemed with gifts on the TouchTen platform.

 

The genius of the Kakao Game is that it integrates with the user’s KakaoTalk contact list on the Kakao messaging service. The user’s game scores are shared and ranked with friends and associates, stimulating competition. This is applied to “Jumpin’ Apeach” as well. In addition, players can get TouchTen points simply by inviting their friends to play the game through KakaoTalk or SMS, or logging in with their Kakao account to enable the Ranking Mode and compete with their friends to get the most chocolates. The more chocolates the players collect, the more points they get.

 

To celebrate the launch, Kakao conducts a range of online and offline activities. Starting today to May 29, users can collect TouchTen points by playing “Jumpin’ Apeach” and have the chance to redeem them with 10 VIP tickets to attend the KakaoTalk Asian Dream Cup 2014 in Indonesia, a charity football game hosted by JS Foundation with the purpose of improving the football environment in South-east Asia, where Kakao is the main sponsor as well as the “Jumpin’ Apeach” mobile phone case (for the first 100 users). On D-day of the ‘KakaoTalk Asian Dream Cup 2014 in Indonesia’, users can also play Jumpin’ Apeach at the KakaoTalk booth in the Gelora Bung Karno stadium area. Lastly, starting May 27 and for  30 days following, users who have downloaded “Jumpin’ Apeach” and logged in with their Kakao account will get Kakao Friends’ special edition emoticon set, “Foodholic.”
