Kakao Plans “Kakao Travel Pack” for International Tourists
- Meets rising inbound demand from global popularity with guides to using key services
- Leads mobility and communication in Korea and steps up as an essential travel app
[October 1, 2025] Kakao is running its “Kakao Travel Pack” campaign for inbound visitors from October 1 to November 30. The campaign is designed to help a fast growing number of international tourists travel more easily and enjoyably, driven by the global success of KPop Demon Hunters and the hosting of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.
Kakao Travel Pack includes three high-utility Kakao services for travel (i.e., KakaoTalk, KakaoMap, K.ride). Through these services, the plan is to minimize hassles in unfamiliar places and raise satisfaction with trips in Korea.
* KakaoTalk supports 16 languages including English, Japanese, and Chinese; K.ride supports 4 languages, including English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese (searching destinations and chat translations with taxi drivers available in 100 languages)
International visitors to Korea can use the Kakao Travel Pack for easy access to essential travel services. Through KakaoMap, you can check rankings for the most popular restaurants and spots near you and see subway and bus locations on the map in real time.
K.ride, Kakao Mobility’s mobility platform app for international users, supports up to four languages, searching destinations and chat translations with drivers are also available in 100 languages. In Korea you can hail and book Kakao T Blue, Venti, Black, and Deluxe taxis with no friction in language, accounts, or payment. The service is available for local ride hailing in about 30 countries worldwide including Korea, Guam, the United States, Japan, Southeast Asia, and Europe. In some markets, it also provides ride reservations.
With KakaoTalk, you can chat with locals through Open Chat to get real travel tips and firsthand reviews. You can use Voice Talk or Face Talk for free, and you can also make store reservations and inquiries.
The Kakao Travel Pack reaches international visitors through outdoor ads at high traffic travel spots, such as Incheon Airport terminals, Airport Railroad Express (AREX) trains, Kakao T taxis, and landmarks often visited for sightseeing, including Myeong-dong, Seoul Station, and the Cheonggyecheon Stream. It will also run on global social media channels, such as Instagram and TikTok.
This campaign was planned to match the sharp rise in travel demand in the second half of this year. According to the Korea Tourism Organization’s Korea Tourism Data Lab, inbound visitors to Korea reached about 15.6 million from January to August this year, up about 15.8% year over year. Inbound demand is expected to grow further with the APEC Summit set for late October and the government’s temporary visa waiver for Chinese tour groups of three or more starting on September 29.
A Kakao spokesperson said, “We planned this campaign to make Kakao services a must have app for trips in Korea for inbound visitors and to help boost domestic tourism and improve infrastructure. To that end we improved language support for international users and strengthened connectivity across services. We will keep working so Kakao services can contribute to revitalizing tourism in Korea and advancing travel infrastructure.” (E.O.D.)
